Here’s how to know what your tyre really needs.
Repair or replace?
When it comes to tyre damage, one of the most common questions we hear is: “Can this be repaired, or does it need replacing?”
At Neumanns Tyres, we always aim to repair your tyre whenever it’s safe to do so. Why? Because repairs save you both time and money, and if a tyre can be safely repaired, that’s usually the best option.
That said, safety always comes first. There are certain situations where a repair simply isn’t possible.
When a tyre can’t be repaired
Unfortunately, a tyre cannot be repaired if it has:
- Multiple punctures
- Bulges in the sidewall
- Run-flat damage
- Shoulder damage
In these cases, replacing the tyre is the safest choice.
We’d also recommend replacement if your tyre tread is low or nearing the legal limit. Even if there’s a small puncture, repairing a tyre with minimal tread isn’t worth the risk. If replacement is needed, we’ll walk you through a range of suitable tyre options to match your vehicle and budget.
When a tyre can be repaired
A tyre repair may be possible when:
- The tread is still within the legal limit
- The puncture is small and located in a repairable zone
If those conditions are met, a professional repair can safely extend the life of your tyre.
